In Newport-Mesa, a district renowned for its robust pre-kindergarten programs and evidence-based literacy practices, the P-3 literacy team set out to bolster early literacy skills. Their strategic approach included the implementation of Heggerty phonemic awareness lessons across all grade levels in the 2022-2023 school year. This success story delves into the district’s efforts and the impact of the Heggerty curricula on early literacy outcomes.

Heggerty has partnered with Fulton County Schools to improve literacy instruction for Georgia students. Here is our story.

Upon assessment, Aspire Public Schools identified the need for an improvement based on their literacy scores, so they leaned into what was working, scaling Heggerty to all classrooms, ultimately building teacher capacity and helping their children learn to read.

With literacy scores in decline nationwide, Pentucket Regional School District beat the odds to increase elementary reading scores by implementing Heggerty district-wide and enhancing teacher knowledge of the Science of Reading.
